Local Restaurant Owner Honored As Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year
Sue Lamers, of Grand Meridian in Appleton, is being honored as Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year (OROY) by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (WRA) Big Four Chapter made up of Waupaca, Outagamie, Winnebago and Green Lake counties. The OROY award is given by fellow members of the Big Four Chapter based on success in business, community service and dedication to the restaurant industry.
The OROY award was presented to Lamers on January 16th at the musical comedy show “Let Me Be Frank” at the Grand Meridian in Appleton. A Legislative Citation was presented to Lamers at the show.
On Tuesday, March 14th, Lamers will also be honored with a commendation medal at the 2017 WRA Awards Dinner gala, taking place at The Hilton Milwaukee City Center in Milwaukee.
Lamers has been in the foodservice industry for 14 years starting off as an Event Coordinator and then was promoted to General Manager. Lamers has been a Chapter Board Member for five years and held the chapter officer position of Secretary for three years. Lamers is also known for her commitment to the future of the industry and mentors ProStart® high school students and college students from the UW, Fox Valley Technical College and Career Academy. Lamers is Founder of NEWWP (Northeast WI Wedding Professionals).
Lamers lives in Appleton and has two children Jennifer and Jonathan.
