FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lynn McDonough of Connell’s Restaurants
Named 2015 Restaurateur of the Year

MILWAUKEE, WI – Lynn McDonough, owner of Connell’s Restaurants, was honored as the Restaurateur of the Year by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association. The Restaurateur of the Year is the industry’s top honor and is given to only one restaurant operator each year. McDonough was announced as the winner at the Association’s annual Awards Dinner, held at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center on March 10th in conjunction with the Midwest Foodservice Expo.

The Restaurateur of the Year award is given to an operator who demonstrates participation and service to the restaurant association, success within their own restaurant and contributions to their community. The winner is selected at a private meeting of past Restaurateur of the Year recipients and is kept a secret until the official announcement at the Awards Dinner.

McDonough has been a WRA member since 1988. He got his start in the industry when he purchased a tavern in Mondovi at the age of 21. After a stint in law enforcement, he operated a convenience store. Then he went on to manage Ojibwa Golf and Country Club in Chippewa Falls from 1979 to 1988 before buying a local supper club, Connell’s Super Club in Chippewa Falls. He currently operates Connell’s Supper Club in Chippewa Falls and Connell’s Club 12 in Fall Creek. His loyal customers rave about generous portions (they especially love the signature onion rings at Connell’s Supper Club), outstanding service and the welcoming bar areas.

He’s created positive work environments at all of the locations he’s owned during his career and has been rewarded for that by retaining dedicated employees for many years.

McDonough joined the WRA state board of directors and chaired several committees before serving a term as Chairman of the Board from 2012-2013. He remains an active participant and currently serves as treasurer on the WRA Education Foundation board.

Education is a priority for McDonough who is very passionate about the WRA Education Foundation’s programs for young people. His leadership has been critical in raising funds for the ProStart Endowment Fund and the WRA West Wisconsin Chapter Endowed Scholarship Fund.

He has a sincere interest in politics and has spoken out on the issues impacting the restaurant industry at both our state and nation’s capitols. McDonough has been an strong advocate for our industry.

His businesses are active in the communities where they are located and McDonough is involved with the Elks, Lions and Rotary clubs.

He has much to be proud of – his two grown sons (Daniel and Douglas), bowling a 300 game and revitalizing the WRA West Wisconsin Chapter.
