Barb Bruesewitz from Wauwatosa East Honored
as 2015 Wisconsin ProStart Teacher of the Year
(Madison, WI) The Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation announced today that Barb Bruesewitz from Wauwatosa East High School is the Wisconsin 2015 ProStart® Teacher of the Year. As Wisconsin’s Teacher of the Year, Bruesewitz will join other top educators in Chicago, Ill. on May 14th as a finalist for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s (NRAEF) ProStart Educator Excellence Awards.
Bruesewitz, who has taught at Wauwatosa East High School for many years, has shown a strong dedication and commitment to education and the foodservice industry as a Family and Consumer Science educator and mentor, industry expert and community leader. In 2006 and 2010, she led her ProStart Management teams to the State Championship at the Wisconsin ProStart Invitational. In 2012, her Culinary team took the State Championship. Many of her students have earned the prestigious Certificate of Achievement and have gone on to successful foodservice industry careers thanks to her dedication and program advocacy. In 2011, Bruesewitz was awarded the Salute to Excellence High School Educator Award.

The NRAEF’s ProStart Educator Excellence Awards recognize exceptional educators who utilize the ProStart program in their classrooms. Each participating state nominates its leading educator who has demonstrated a strong commitment to his or her students and to the ProStart program.
ProStart, administered by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and state restaurant associations is a two-year curriculum designed to teach high school students the skills needed for a career in the restaurant industry. The program develops the best and brightest talent into tomorrow’s industry leaders. From culinary techniques to management skills, ProStart’s industry-driven curriculum provides real-world educational opportunities and builds practical skills and a foundation that will last a lifetime.
