Stop Bans on Soft Drinks and French Fries
Your industry needs your help today. Major American cities are banning large sodas, banning certain foods from being served in restaurants and requiring posting of nutritional information by independent restaurants and smaller chains that do not fall under the nutritional labeling mandate contained in the federal health care reform law.
Wisconsin is on the verge of passing a law that will prevent local governments in our state from regulating foods and non-alcoholic beverages served in restaurants. This would be positive for our industry by preventing a hodgepodge of different restrictions across different cities.
There is a provision in the state budget bill, known as Motion 150, that will accomplish this goal. However, activists who wish to pursue such overly protective local regulations are currently lobbying lawmakers and the Governor very heavily and asking them to remove this provision.
