NRA awards programs reward restaurants and suppliers for a job well done – see which you qualify for

NRA Restaurant Neighbor Award
Applications are now being accepted for the NRA Restaurant Neighbor Award, recognizing outstanding community service programs. Four national winners are chosen: one small business, one-mid-size/large business, one national chain and one Humanitarian of the Year. State finalists are chosen by WRA and then go on to compete for the national awards.

Four national winners receive $5,000 each to support their community efforts as well as an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to receive their award during a gala awards dinner held in April 2013.

NRA Faces of Diversity Award
Applications are currently being accepted for the NRA Faces of Diversity Award, honoring restaurateurs who show enterprise and dedication to realize the American dream and inspire others. The three American Dream awards are for individual restaurateurs. The Inspiration Award honors one company. State finalists are chosen by WRA and then compete for the national awards.

Winners receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to receive their award, as well as a $2,500 scholarship awarded to a deserving student given in their name.

NEW! Kids Recipe Challenge
Children's nutrition is a top trend on restaurant menus. To shine the spotlight on the industry's commitment to providing healthful menu options for children and to inspire others to adopt similar practices, the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and McCormick For Chefs created the Kids Recipe Challenge, a fun and creative way to showcase healthy menu options available when dining out.

Submissions should be for a full meal, including a side dish (if applicable) and a beverage. Recipes will be pre-screened to ensure they meet the nutrition criteria of Kids LiveWell. Recipes will be judged on perceived taste before advancing to the final round for the competition.

Winners will receive a $1,500 cash prize, an all-expenses-paid trip to Chicago, IL, where they will be honored at a high-profile awards ceremony during the 2013 NRA Hotel-Motel Show and widespread recognition through the NRA's public relations and marketing efforts.

2013 FABI Awards
The NRA is calling on food and beverage manufacturers who have made significant advancements and innovation in ingredients, preparation, processing and packaging – be it a new flavor concept, improved nutritional profile or increased cost/labor efficiencies – to apply for a 2013 FABI Award. Formerly known as Food and Beverage Product Innovations Awards, the FABI Awards program maintains all the same prestige, under a more memorable, user-friendly name.

Award recipients represent the most innovative consumable products in the market today. Any new product submitted for the panel of operator experts’ review must fall into one or more of the general categories: High Marketability, Lifestyle, Nutritional Profile, Packaging Improvement and Incremental Value to the Operator.

The deadline to apply for the 2013 FABI Awards is January 16, 2013. To be considered, all food and beverage product innovations must be introduced in the U.S. marketplace from January 1, 2012 through May 18, 2013. Award recipients will be announced in March 2013 and will be presented at the 2013 NRA Hotel-Motel Show.

Operator Innovations Awards
The Operator Innovations Awards celebrate restaurant operators who are transforming the industry with extraordinary creativity and commitment to innovation and excellence in execution. Selected by an independent panel of experts, the Operator Innovations Awards are presented in each of five categories: Food Safety, Health & Nutrition, Menu Development, Sustainability and Technology.

Winners in each category will be announced, and one of the category winners will also be named Innovator of the Year on Saturday, May 18 at the 2013 NRA Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show in Chicago
